Thanksgiving in Zuccotti Park

And it was quite wonderful yesterday in Zuccotti Park, despite the newly erected NYPD guard tower on the northwest corner, the double row of barricades that keep folks from sitting on the northern ledge, the private security guards (who were involved in any number of absurd hassles: the last one I witnessed being blocking a BANJO from entering for fear it might be a terrorist weapon (move over Pete Seeger!)) and all sorts of official crazyness.
But the joyous spirit of the people and the wonderful free vegan food (not allowed to serve it inside the park) -- as well as turkey, Ben & Jerry's ice cream (Ben was spotted wandering around), absolutely yummy peach cobbler, oh rapture! -- provided all afternoon ... it just kept coming and coming and coming .... Great peaceful and yet absurd day.
